“How do I give feedback to someone who is already checked out?”
Start smaller than the whole pattern. Name one specific moment, ask what has made the work harder, and listen long enough to understand whether you are dealing with clarity, capacity, skill, or something personal. Then agree on one next step and a time to reconnect. The first conversation does not need to solve everything. It needs to make the next honest conversation possible.
